Diary Of A Dead Man: Part 3; The Return 12/09/2011
Well what do we have here?, this old thing must have dropped to the bottom of my bag after all this time, two weeks of gaps, guess I will have to fill them in... - Well two weeks ago after my last log, I believe we had just finished dealing with a swarm of centipedes in the middle of the jungle. Well after a few more days of travel, we stumbled on a village filled with people, weird jungle people. At first all seemed well and then after being put in a cage like room, I started to panic, and it wasn’t until they had some children arrive and gift us with water and oils that I started to ‘trust’ them. I sent the children packing, and they started shouting gibberish, something about snakes and man. After waiting for what seemed an age, we were invited to dinner which we attended. Roast boar, delicious. After that we met with the tribe chief and learned of a vast town, a ‘city’ which we planned to be our next move. The next morning, we discovered that someone had defiled the tribes ‘sacred beasts’, mere displacer beasts pah. After some persuasion, the tribe believed that it was the other denizens of the jungle, the pixies, that was to blame, and from that we set off for the city. - With some escort guards in tow, we made way to the city, and after a couple of days we arrived at an odd temple off the beaten path, a temple with weird snake symbols on the inside. After more careful analysis, and some climbing, me, the barbarian and the rouge all landed into a smelly death pit, with bones covering the ground, and from there we were attacked by weird snake creatures, something like ‘Grick’, all I know is their only good for dying. After dispatching these creatures and searching, which we found nothing, we made our leave, but not before I grabbed a couple of legs and a water skin full of the strange substance, which would come handy later. After another days travel, we finally approached the city, huge it was, amazing, and also... dull. We were instantly escorted to a single room, not to see or speak to any of the inhabitants. Walking into the room was no hard task, gold, incense, fine silks; it was just like... home in a way. After a while longer, we discovered that the rouge had been infected with an odd disease, but at most it was just festering inside her, I looked in my water skin at the gloop which I then gave to Xin to ‘dispose’ of. After a little while longer, she had disappeared and the entire city was up in arms trying to hunt her down, to which I sat down and ate, after a long grooming session of course. - After the city guards were sure that the rouge was nowhere to be found, we were escorted to Goul’She, the ‘chief’ of sorts, who was a giant snake with a man’s head. After explaining the ant situation to... Him?, we found out that he could read minds, much to my dismay. He read my mind and discovered that we had discovered the Grick temple He gave us minutes to escape and to never return, and then the rest of the party ran to the city gates. I stayed for a moment however, and in an attempt to learn his secrets, sent a powerful intimidating thought to him, to which he laughed. As I walked out, I turned and sent him an image of the City and his entire town burning to the ground, and also the events of my village and the eventual comeuppance to my uncle and father. He stared deep into my eyes then turned. I made my leave with haste, only mortal, but how much longer... - Running from the city was no problem, straight path back up to the mountains pretty much, and it was only to get out of patrol range anyway. After a while longer we had stumbled across a Pixie, who openly came out to us. We explained our situation, and the first thing she said was, “pah displacer beasts are sacred? They are just pathetic animals” and after some wooing, Xin had attempted her hand, which she agreed, if he could fight off her suitors. We continued north, after a couple of days of fighting, we discovered an odd temple, covered with strange stone creatures, Gargoyles. After Jin (Mighty Mongol AC Whore) Went in for the distraction, Ji Yu Bai started to climb a nearby tree. I ran head first into the fray, followed by the barbarian and rouge. After a while of fighting, we noticed a huge stone in the centre of the temple, black as the night and covered in markings. Ji cracked out his excavating tools and set to work, whilst I pulled out my skull and giving it a well needed polish. After two days of digging, we found out that the structure was huge and buried underground. He then examined the stone, then after a few moments, but his hands in front of his eyes, as if blinded. He then attempted to dispel and then fire a bolt of acid at the stone, to the effect of burning off a single marking; we then heard an almighty scream, which I then screamed back at, intimidatingly. - Continuing on north for a few days and scrapes, we were back at the mighty cock cave, in all its splendour and, overall cockiness. I inscribed, “The Cock Cave, Keep Out” onto the outside of the cave. One day I’ll build a new home here... one day. After a while longer, we came back to the Gith tomb as it is now known. It seemed to be safe still so we made it a temporary ‘base of operations’ in effect. After a day of rest, we left only to find three wyverns flying high above. I turned to Jin, he nodded, I turned to Xin, and he nodded. The entire party then pulled out their bows and slings and started to shoot high up into the air, and Ji sent off a huge acid ball into the air as well. Within ten seconds, two were dead and falling to the ground, whilst the third flew to a nearby nest. After a few moments of thought, we decided to attempt to climb the three hundred foot cliff face. After several failed attempts, the barbarian pulled out two grappling hooks and started to scale the cliff face. And then a minute later, a huge rope slumped to the ground, and then Jin, me and the rest of the party, bar Xin and Ji in tow, started to ascend. After what seemed like minutes, the wyvern bounded off the cliff, and seemed to dive down to the ground, I turned and continued the ascent. Hearing screams from bellow, I saw Jin go over the top, and then begin to slide down the cliff face, whilst I continued ascending. Once at the top I saw the barbarian about to strike the chicks, I shouted out to stop, and she barely stopped in time, nearly thousands of gold gone in seconds. Using Xin’s portable hole which I acquired earlier, I then put the chicks into it. As I plopped the last chick in, I noticed a glint of what seemed to be Ice; I put my hand down to it and grasped, and then pulled out a giant icicle, with a button on the side of it, and better yet it didn’t seem to melt. I stowed it into my bag and then started to climb down the rope, quite fast in fact, then gave Xin his portable hole back, and told him to give them air every five minutes. We then stumbled on a cave to the east of the pass, which after further inspection was a treasure trove, with interesting treasure, and a single huge sword. We then tended to the wounded. - Some of the party members were seriously injured, poison stings from the wyvern are fatal, and we dragged them to the Gith tomb for resting. After resting for three days, and hunting for the wyvern chicks, and then teaching them basic draconic, we set off upward and north ward. After a few more days, and we heard the sound of wings. Lots of wings. We turned to see a whole swarm of what seemed to be, flying monkeys. Before I could react, Xin had dispatched three, and Ji sent a huge ball of acid and dispatched the rest. Before they completely dissolved, I managed to grab a single arm, and also notice a familiar crest, Goul’she’s crest. Another hour and we were at a familiar patch of trees, and looking at a familiar spot, was a hill giant, covered in leaves. I pulled out my polished skull, and in intimidated the giant, causing him to get angry, and charge straight at me, and after a moment of exchanging blows, Ji cast a spell on Him, which caused the giant to drop his club on his head, and then drop to his knees at Ji’s feet. He then praised and bowed to Ji calling him a powerful sorcerer. He introduced himself as Gurk. He then joined the party immediately, turning our party into a war band of sorts. We then presented him with the huge sword we found, to which Gurk couldn’t believe, claiming to be the lost sword of his hill giant ancestors. A few more miles and we were in the barbarian village. Civilisation at last, finally. We “offloaded” our wyvern chicks, but as I was to pass the last one, it looked my straight in my eyes, with a loving yet “Mmm Yum” look. It reminded me of... well what should have been. I took Him back and received the gold for them, giving it evenly to the party - After gearing up for the trek across the desert; consisting of gathering camels, food, oil and intimidating children, we came to the foot of the desert. A week of walking on burning hot sands, with the sun beating down, and unknown terrors within, and I’m wearing black heavy armour, with a new black over cloak. Just your average day. We set off for the west and the winter encampment, which was a gruelling burning hot day, although I helped fry the eggs during mid day. On the second day we nearly walked into a giant scorpion, but with a carefully worded warning from the barbarian, we managed not to walk straight into it. It turned and shook sand off of its carapace, and then turned to the party, I then instinctively charged straight for it, followed by the rest, and then as the sun hit high noon, its corpse was scattered over the barren wasteland, we then heard the chitter of more scorpions, so we fled, turning back only to see two more scorpions cannibalize the other. We continued off into the night, until we saw a weird red demon standing perfectly still, with its claws in front of its eyes, as if it was hiding. We all stared and it stared back. We side stepped around it and it followed us. When we were on the other side, Jin just ran straight at it, as if catching it by surprise, followed by the rest of the party. As we ran to join the fray, one of Jin’s parries’s missed, and the beast grabbed him by the throat, and then went to kiss him, sending a sonic scream down his throat, to which Jin smashed its face in. When it finally dropped, we gave it a well needed kicking. I looked at Jin and he seemed in shock, I can still remember that look today, as If he, the wall, nearly fell to a kiss. That night a huge storm appeared, a storm of magic erupted across the ground, and just as it appeared, it vanished... - The next morning, we noticed a creature flying in the sky, which Xin identified as a sand dragon, which he recognised. I then ran up to the camels, and with Jin’s help, we managed to cover them up just as the sand dragon landed. “Tribute, Pay me tribute to pass in my desert” Jin said that he had already payed tribute and that we were not going to pay again. We descended on the dragon before he could react, with arrows, blades and fireballs flying all directed at the dragon. The dragon tried to take off, but Gurk ran in and cleaved one of the dragon’s wings, to which he then sent a burst of grit at us below, but I dodged the stream, then sent and almighty slice skyward, dropping the dragon. I then climbed on top of the corpse, and took the new title, Dragonslayer. - A few more days in, and we came across a large rock in the desert, from which four strange demons appeared from the rock face, and started talking in a weird language. Ji cast a spell on himself, and then started drawing two pictures in the sand, one of a world, then a cutting line, then another of a world with elementals on it. They just looked at him as If he was a mad man. After an hour, two salamanders approached from the east, and as soon as they approached, the demanded Ji to send them back to whence they came, the elemental plane of fire. He said he wasn’t powerful enough to cast a plane shift spell, but we promised to get them back home. He then went on about how we look different from when he was last here, over a thousand years ago, we asked him about the past, and he said everything was bigger and grander, with magic ‘colleges’ and a type of magic Ji had never heard of, force magic. We asked about two things, what the words Gith and Illithid were. To Gith he gave a shrug, to Illithid, they looked at each other, then stooped down, “How did you come of this word, we thought we had wiped them out” We then explained that we had seen it on a coin, and then showed them one, they looked at each other and then agreed not to say anymore of the matter. Pity that they did not share information of the past, as it seems that we are part of a dying civilisation, rather than trying to build one. He promised Ji a tome of magic, lost magic from ages past, to which he accepted, on the condition of returning them home. - After a few more days of desert and a few days of being in a forest, we were encountered by a pack of velociraptors, dangerous beasts indeed. As soon as we found one, two more appeared from the sides, but taking the initiative, I charged at the nearest one and gave it an almighty slice with my falchion. The forest came alive with the sight of flying, leaping velociraptors, with swipes and slashes coming from the left and right, with velociraptors coming from nowhere. After a long strenuous battle we came on top, victorious and alive. A while later, we felt a shudder in the ground, and then saw a fin appear from the ground. Jin instantly identified it as a Bullette and then charged in, followed by the rest. It wasn’t until Ji cast grease on then Bullette that we started to take the battle, with a heavily wounded Jin. It kept jumping, and falling over, making it easier to hit it, and after it was knocked prone, we had it were we wanted it, and then slew it across the plains. - After two more days, and a few packs of dogs and wolves later, A Druid fell straight out of the sky (No Not Rufus) He then jumped up and swept himself off, introducing himself as Ho mo Jin, to which the party instantly recognized him as the bog standard team member and we continued on. Strange armour though. After a few hours, we ran into a flight of angry cockatrice’ to which our roving war band descended on, with Jin running up front, Gurk to the side, and me and the barbarian defending the line, whilst Homo started changing into a dire weasel, and Xin started letting the arrows fly. As one burst into flames, Soul the bard, started to write a song, mid battle, named “Flaming Cockatrice on Fire” our new battle anthem. As we annihilated the last cockatrice, I started to tie up a corpse and then slung it over my shoulder. We arrived just outside the encampment, when we saw a group of riders. Very familiar riders, my brothers of the thousand blades. I hailed them to me and instantly asked what the state of the encampment was, they replied it was fine, bar they were hunting down the man responsible for buying out the town’s supply of arrows. I then asked the situation on the ants, and they said they were not spreading into the encampment yet, but they did have foraging parties out. I then told them of our victories, the sand dragon, the cockatrice’, the Bullete, and the velociraptors. They hailed me and said to seek our guild hall, to seek a commendation and possible promotion. - Walking into the town, everyone went their separate ways, all searching for different things, with me looking for magic items, and then a necromancer. I stumbled across a weird looking fellow, toying behind a house with skulls and hands. “Bones lovely bones ha-ha” He looked completely insane and when I asked for more than mere toys he said he was incapable of such. I drew my falchion and grabbed him by the throat, raising him above the ground off his feet. “Enough games, take me to a real necromancer” “But they would kill me!” “I’ll kill you stupid” Forcing my falchion to his throat, he nodded and I released “fine, meet me tomorrow, and I will bring to you my master”. - I retired to the tavern, buying a large banquet for me and my wyvern whom I have yet to name, maybe something along the lines of Hungry and King, because that is all he seems to me, a hungry son with the power of a king, the power of dragons. He is still in favour of game, but pork and beef are a good substitute. I then went to the barkeep and ordered a round on me, on stayed until the late wet of dew before I left. - Then next day I went to where I met Bones (Better than Generic Chinese Necromancer) who had with him a woman, who was cloaked in a long black cloak. I took off my helmet and bowed. She stepped forward and started analysing me “Hmm very nice, Fit, strong, yes” I let her back off and then shot her a grin “enough games, I wish to Use your services if I may my lady” She seemed a little shocked for a moment, “My name Is Hung So Lo, Son Of Li Mu Lo, a great necromancer to the east, and nephew of Bai Lo, High member of the Thousand blades and also a necromancer”. “You are from a family of necromancers? Hmm” She looked at Bones then back “Well then it is an honour, I do not know of the family Per se, but I have heard of a powerful family of necromancers to the east, near the coast”. - She accepted my request, clasping her pale hands together, with blood red nails and bony hands. “I wish to have a zombified horse, a steed that will not require food of water and the strength to ride for days on end”. “Hmm an Unusual request, but a request nonetheless. You know that my services are not cheap, A thousand Gold”. “That is completely acceptable”. “Well then by this time tomorrow, you will have your steed” She then Invited me to dinner and we talked of necromancy and also of other things. I asked whether bones would be better off as a skeleton, to which she said no unfortunately, he can become more incompetent than he already is. We talked of necromancy as an art rather than just a taboo subject, of being used for both just and nefarious needs. I talked of my brother and also my necromantic studies, showing I wasn’t completely uneducated at the art, but not being the favoured son. I then told her that I was on a quest to find my Uncle and father, to murder and overthrow them for what they have done to my family and village, and of how I wish to return My wife from beyond the grave. She said without the body I could not commune with her, and raising her was beyond any necromancer’s abilities. “With my fathers and uncles research combined, I should have the means to do so” I am also In need of a new master, as my training has been lacking over the last several years. She agreed to take me on as a disciple. - The next day I received my steed. Sickly looking “you weren’t expecting a healthy horse were you” I patted the horse, “Hold your tongue bones, or I will have it removed, It Is just as I imagined” I then bade them farewell, and then took bones to the side for a moment, quickly selling him some bones to silence him, and then selling him a whole cockatrice, so that he may not be completely incompetent. I then went around the merchants one last time, gathering many days worth of food and water, and then some alchemist fire, a much needed buy. I then found an enchanter to enchant my bow, then a small merchant who was selling me a ring of protection, I looked at her with a very intimidating look, but then on trying the ring and finding it real, It changed to a smile, and then a shower of gold, to which I saddled my steed, and then readied myself for the long journey ahead, a haircut and also several more banquet sized meals for me and my wyvern, and then enough alcohol to flood the town. Which is where I am now, hmm should call the war band for a meal and several rounds before we leave, tell some stories for the locals that sort of thing... 1 Comment Gaps 13/06/2011
Unfortunately there is going to be some gaps in my adventures, as I cannot get in front of a computer every week :( Diary of A Dead Man: The Second 13/06/2011
It’s been several days since I wrote my last log, back when we were in that damn death pit with those umber hulks and that bloody kobold miner trying to kill us all. And after that we spent a day battling Ettecaps which is the main reason for the delay, lovely set of eyes they have though... - My log begins two days ago, just after we beat that final Ettecap to death and I plucked out its eyes, we set off continuing down the southern path towards the tropics, and displacer beast country. After walking for a while, the dirt path turned to mud, and Xin started sliding around in it. After a minute or so, two beings emerged from the mud; two earth elementals or whatever that half assed druid called them. After several minutes of beard scratching and trying to figure out what was going on, Alice had sated the elementals and they retreated back down to the depths of the earth. Afterwards Alice said that the elementals were not summoned, and they did not know how they had come to our plane of existence. I have seen some insane things since I have joined this rag tag band of adventurers, but one thing is for sure; something big is going on and when it hits we will know about it, maybe when it does I will have my answers, or my revenge, whichever comes first. - We then continued on for another hour or so before I heard Xin falter at the back of the party; he had heard or seen something, and whatever it was he wasn’t waiting to find out. Before anyone knew, an air elemental tore straight through the path and through all of us, scattering us and sending me flying onto my arse. Xin and Zhu both ran off north leaving me, Jin and Alice behind to deal with the elemental. Jin ran into combat, but before he could get a hit off, a blast of wind like slaps hit his torso and sent him backwards, knocking him unconscious. As I ran to my fellow compatriot to see if he was still alive, I heard Alice sick Yami onto the elemental. I still think that Alice is insane, but whilst the air elemental to me was battling an unseable foe, for a second I could see a glow of light, a shimmer more like. Ethereal creatures. I wonder how they are work, whether they are the damned tortured souls of murdered peoples and creatures, or whether there is another explanations, I better be careful what I tell Alice about my past, I can’t begin to fathom what I would do if I saw what I did again, I would probably try to kill myself all over again, but then I just remember what I devoted myself to, my mission... - With Jin down, Xin and Zhu running back up the mountain path, and Alice and Yami, our only protection and decoy, I took my friend Jin by the arm and dragged him with all my strength, even though it dragged on my armour and left me defenceless, I couldn’t leave him, even though he nearly sent me to my death once, I couldn’t hold it against him. A good person with bad motives is still a good person nether-the-less. As I dragged him further into the forest line, I began to think of what to do with the body, he started breathing normally and seemed to be more likely to not die. I hid the body in the shrubbery and looked back on my work. I quickly slid my hand into his coin bag and took six gold pieces, not nearly worth saving his life but a start (Maybe a 10% on Xins tab should cover it at least) I then pulled out my composite bow, a gift from Xin after joining the party, and ran back into the fray; well the tree line. I pulled a single arrow from my quiver and pulled back. I took a second to look for that glow flash, and then after I saw it, aimed four inches up. My arrow flew into the elemental and stopped, then after a second flew back out. I could see through the corner of my helmet mask, the scared face of Xin, at least one hundred feet away, quickly turning on the spot and commencing running away. Hmm fearless my arse, I will show you the true meaning of fear ranger. I let another arrow fly, and then as the arrow hit the elemental, I ran just over the tree line, raised my bow high in my left hand, and pointed at the elemental I AM THE MASTER INTIMIDATOR, FEAR INCARNATE, FEEL MY PRESCENCE AND HEED MY WHIM. Without a doubt I am. The air elemental then flew off as fast as it could whilst I continued to shout at it. After a moment and a minute, the dust settled and I pulled off my Helmet and Helmet mask, freeing my hair and top knot. I closed my eyes and breathed in deeply. Fear incarnate. - I went back to Jin and helped him to his feet and pulled him over to the road, from where I started to unpack my tent and sleeping equipment, leaving my helmet in the tent, I went back outside and watched Jin as he slowly recovered. After he finally woke I got back to my feet and sipped from a water skin I had. Satisfaction after a friends recovery, nothing but relief and a well deserved rest, I went back to my tent and rested a while, and before we set off in the morning, I lied on my bedroll and stared up through the top of my tent and through the sky, piercing existence until I saw myself. What I am, what I was and what I could become, but not what I had done. Satisfaction gave me that at least. Humph, travelling with the insane seems to be sating my mind to say the least. - When I finally was prepared to leave, I noticed Zhu and Xin had returned during my sleep and after a quick breakfast, we set off onwards and downwards. After a little while the road started to narrow and become more dense and tropical, with exotic sounds and wildlife sounding in the air. We continued onwards and after twenty minutes Xin stopped dead and started to stare into the tree line. He started to gesture towards us and started mumbling something very quietly; sounding like “Over there” we all turned slowly and then after a minute, noticed a giant praying mantis, at least eight feet in size. Without hesitation, the party descended on the mantis, and without any resistance at all, we felled it within moments. When the mantis fell to the floor, Xin was straight on it, hacking and cutting away at it. He took the wing casings whilst I looked at them and admired the wings. “What an addition to my project these would be”, I thought to myself, but before I could sneak them into my bag, I received a hard glance from Jin. It was a foreign sight to me; sending anger to a saviour. (Oh well I can always buy them) After I readjusted myself I started to head south on point, before Jin caught up and walked past. I thought what we were and who if anyone was the person of responsibility, a fearless leader who would put his life on the line for his other compatriots, then I remembered that between Jin and Xin, there was no chance. (But as soon as I get to a barbarian village) - We continued on for a while, and after a little while, Xin spotted something, and we went onto high alert and ready to be ambushed at any time. After a minute or so, a giant white spider appeared in front of me, eight huge legs and fangs dripping with venom. After a flurry of arrows from around the party, I wielded my falchion, and brought it down and across the spider, and then at least straight after, a giant pair of jaws sprung from the ground and clamped on the spider, hurting it massively. And after another minute, Alice sent a splinter at the spider, which then proceeded to grow to the size of a tree trunk, which impaled and finished the beast. - Which brings us to this close of my second log, we continued on until dark and set up camp an hour or so ago. Hmm sat in my tent writing reminds me of when I was younger, and better days. Dead days. Anyway my mission is staying unfaltered, but its execution is changing. This quest is starting to become dangerous, and we need more, “muscle”. I have heard of a certain magic which can animate flesh and bone, necromancy, I heard of it when I was first posted on watch all those years ago... Hmm just heard a noise outside better look. Diary Of A Dead Man: The First 02/06/2011
Day The Twelth - After stumbling on to the battlefield almost two weeks ago and identifying that tree as a half-giant, I have become accustomed to the ragtag, yet completely reliable party that we have become, from the fated, two parts drunken first meeting, to the more recent slaying of my greatest advesary so far the wyvern (Im still not sure why jin decided to egg me on rather than give me a hand, and im even still puzzled why that scatty druid alice was screaming about once we had dispatched it) Well I will begin with what happened five days ago, when we had finally slain the great beast, and i had left its corpse toothless and blind, just in case. after the battle I quickly slipped away down a southern road, or rather uphill and climbed. After walking a few yards into a tree line, I spotted what seemed to be a crack in the heavens, a huge black entrail of clouds moving north towards us. before I had time to analyse the situation that Dervish ranger appeared from behind. I turned and said "Skys getting dark friend, huge storm about to hit in about an hour, we should look for shelter, as i dont plan to become one between the trees and the ground" Jin looked at me and nodded once, but not before our venerable master ranger appeared from behind jin, I swear that xin is more smoke than human, vanishing into thin air then reappearing as if he had never left. I looked around the lightly forested area. Large trees on the left, with a smooth yet rounded rockface on the left side. Xin being the master of survival walked on as he agreed with me, then dissapearing to the left, only to find a great ten foot wide cavern right next to us. Huh, must be losing my eyesight in my old age I joked to myself. 29 and old, yet ive only just started seing the world true. - We started walking into the cave mouth, and before we knew it the storm was overhead and the skies parted, with a torrential downpour underway we could do nothing but sit back and wait it out. as soon as i moved to the over end of the cave, xin had rushed around and cleaned the interior of the cave. Interesting. looking deeper still I saw a small shimmer on the face of the wall in front of me, looking down the ground was seeming to continue onward and downwards rapidly. drawing my bow, I shot a flamed arrow down the gap, which seemed to never end, a black abyss. After several minutes of sitting down, concentrating and alot of beard scratching and twizzling, i noticed that the group was becoming more louder, and that there were echoes of several conversations reverberating from within the cavern. Then the rumbling Began - As soon as I heard the rumbling I readied my bow down toward the abyss, whilst slowly backing out of the cave into the downpour. seconds felt like minutes, minutes to days, and before i was within four feet of the treeline a final rumble and thundering roar came from within the cave, with Xin, Alice, Soul and Zhu came bursting out, with Jin remaining in the cave. It was amazing, two sets of eyes, large pinsirs, large swinging arms and a bellowing roar followed by a triple volley from xin, then a volley from me and Zhu, with four arrows deep into the beasts chest. From within the cry 'Umberhulk' was heard over the twing of bows and the roars of the Umberhulk. Soon the umberhulk was near the mouth of the cave, with the valiant Jin swinging and parrying away. I looked deep into the umberhulks eyes, threw my fist against my chest and shouted "Foul Umberhulk, I shal return you to the depths of the earth in pieces!" The Umberhulk looked straight back at me and sent riveting thoughts through my mind, plummeting me down and down... - I opened my eyes and I was back in the village, Except the noise was not of my memory, but of my new friends. The axe in my hands that I used back then was clutched tightly, striking a killing blow onto another of my servants. Soundless screams ringed in my head, wishing these haenus images would be sealed again, back into the depths. the moment I feared happened, the door Slid open; I Heard a voice and was back, Alice had casted a movement spell and it had brought me back temporarily, but the sound of the screams and the door sliding started, with the orchestra of burning melodic fires in the background, i pulled back my arrow and unleashed its fury ont o the Umberhulk. No sooner had the arrow hit; Sound switched and the door was fully open, heavy foot steps and dripping fingers, oblivious to the red in my eyes, watching next for my prey. I hear alice calling my name, but my goal stays adamant, kill, kill; Switches again, arrow pulled as far asI can pull, hearing the heavy panting and the whimpering from behind the next door; The arrow flies and hits the new target, the second Umberhulk square in the neck; and finally all incaptivated in my mind - I rip the door apart with my bare hands and then swing my axe into the next room. My heart drops. The world stops. My anger is gone, no anger, no joy, just numb pain. I look straight into Wrens eyes. She had bought a new dress that very day, to mark the seven month mark. She fell to her knees with the large axe straight through her chest and abdomen, reaching through to the other side, the perfect killing blow. I held her a while as I saw the life drain from within her, onto the floor. It was more blood than ive ever seen in my life. And then she looked at me with her beautiful brown eyes and uttered the words with her dying breath. The one thing that I never in my life wished to remember, "Your Father was right... Twins" I put my hands over the bump for the last time knowing that I could never live with what I had done. I removed the axe and cast it out, cursing it and pulling out a small blade, I slit my arms and threw them to the sky Shouting "On my word I will never weild an axe again" I Then drop to my knees, putting the blade back into my Knot, and unsheating my falchion putting it to my throat; - "Hung, Hung are you alright?" Alice asked, I replied with a nod and then when she walked on, threw my self to my knees and punched my face full on. I got to my feet and went to work on the Umberhulk corpses, ignoring the others, I ripped bot sets of Pinsirs from the corpses and swiftly went to fastening them to my backpack. Xin gave me a brilliant suggestion to use them as duel weapons, arm mounted reverse scimitars as you will, silver coated obviously; with the silver weve been finding I am not to worried. The others then swiftly started a plan of action by the time they had decided, the storm was passed several hours later. The plan was to send Alices 'spirit wolf' down below to find the Umberhulk treasure. From my perspective there was just a crazy woman talking to the ground. After a minute or two, Alice said that there was a treasure cavern sixty feet below us, and with some ranger specific calculations, three days of hard work and an earth elemental we broke through the cavern, with me running up to the top of the cave, fetching my equipment and then lowering myself down on a rope, whilst bounding off the rafters - Five Minutes passed when I heard Jin shout "Combat!" and straight away I dropped my torch and drew my Falchion. I Turned to see the newest member of our party, Soul, speak to what seemed to be Jin with a bulging sack or blanket hugged tightly to his chest. After several seconds of hurried translations and enormous flash apeared from the hole of the cave above, hitting the blanket, occupant and Jin all in one, blasting my torch out and dropping embers of a burnt rope from above. I rushed to Jin and helped the fellow up, getting a shock from him in the process (Full Plate armour is still the best!) After getting our bearings, and Xins explanation intervention, we discovered that a very sneaky kobold had been attemting to sabotage our cave support beams and kill all of us whilst we were in the Umberhulk treasure room, due to the fact that we were trespassing on previous kobolod owned land, and the blast of light was from a sorcerer as well. - Well It seems that Is it for this entry, I dont plan to become kobold bait or worse, and with two miles from our 'Quest Objective' I advise we run, as I also plan to go back and Commandeer those wyvern chicks to sell (And rear) I also see Xin eyeing up that gold beaded necklace and that other necklace... Gith - Bourne, Born something. May have to ask him for training once we get back to civilisation, and by the sounds of it a barbarian tribe, always pays to have subjects, that is if they had a powerful ruler. Ha the audacity, a fighter, want - to - be ranger becoming lord of a barbarian village... - One last note though. In the tomb, whilst tending to my vigilant sleeping, I overheard alice talking to herself about a being of great power, a 'Gode' Or was it 'God' maybe becoming one of them will let me see wren again, if not bring her back... Bring back my twins... They would be seven by now.... seven. New Beginnings 01/06/2011
