Read, Read, Read 02/05/2012

As you can probably guess from above, this is about reading.   Let me fill you in why.

Sunday 29/04:  I had a great game of 40K, I won't bore you with the details as I wan't to concentrate on my failings.  Firstly, I forgot all about my Wolf Lord and Wolf Guard in their Razorback.  I concentrated so much on the Razorbacks firepower that I didn't deploy them until the final turn (doh) with their 5 plasma pistols (Double Doh), Thunder hammer with Storm Shield (Triple Doh), power weapons and Wolf Claws (DOH!!!!!!!).  Hand to hand combat specialists who only fired 2 plasma pistols.
Secondly, Rune Priest:  A master of the Runes and I didn't use a single psychic power and I completely FORGOT about his Runic Weapon.  A force weapon that would have killed those pesky Dark Eldar.

So remember, Read, Read, Read those special rules and wargear.  It could possibly save your game!

Campaign Update 23/04/2012

The Campaign is now officially underway and guess what, the imperium is losing!  Seans Necrons have taken 2 worlds now with no on looking to stop him, Edwards 'Nids have killed 2 worlds and well on the way to the third.  Others have taken worlds but things are looking dire.  If Edward keeps going the way he is then it looks like map 2 will be in use very soon.

We have had some more players join the campaign including some Dark Angels which I had the pleasure of playing Sunday, can't give anything away but boy do Deathwing Terminators hurt!  BUT  and yes it's a big but, Belial now has a healthy regard for Lascannons.

More updates next week

40k campaign 10/01/2012

On the 5th February 2012 I will be starting a 40k Campaign.  I already have a list of names with armies but because of the style of campaign, anyone can leave or join at any time.
This campaign will continue to run until people have decided that the campaign has run it's course!  The final battle will be on Terra with a massive battle involving all bad guys vs all good guys (currently with 12 players this could turn out to be a whopping 9000 point battle).

Interested then leave me a comment or

Christmas finish 21/12/2011

Hi all, well we have now finished for christmas and will be back at club on the 8/1/2011!  Lets hope that we grow in strength next year like we have this year.
2011 has been a busy year for us all with the biggest thing to happen to the club was moving to the new scout hut!  This has been a great help to us and I personally feel that this has helped enormously to attract new members.  We are now slowly growing with new members arriving slowly so lets see if in 2012 we can try and get at least 1 new member a month!  This will be hard for us all to achieve but if we, as a club, work hard then we can attract new members either through word of mouth or advertising.  I'm going to speak to the club after christmas and get ideas from people.  We already have a 40k campaign being organised and I hope that some of you out there will be willing to organise other events as well.

Hope you all have a very merry xmas and a happy new year!

I am running a 40K Campaign in the new year concentrating on the Scraius Sector (before anyone asks, I know that you won't find this mentioned in any GW Literature.  This is my own sector for campaign setting).
This is the usual good vs bad with a twist. The good guys list as follows:
Imperial Guard
Space Marines
Tau
Eldar

The bad guys get even better:
Chaos
Necrons
Dark Eldar
Orks

These armies get bonuses for worlds that they capture.  Also we have a neutral army, the Tyranids.  Heres the twist, 'Nids don't get any bonuses for capturing worlds but that world becomes dead.  If it is re-captured by any other army they won't get the bonuses that would usually come with that world.  This is because the 'Nids decimate a world beyond all recognition and leave it a lifeless husk.

The points ranges will be from 1500 to 3000 points with no limit on players per game for eg.  in a 1500 point game you can field 2 armies on one side for 750 points each against an opponent with 1500 points, or in a 3000 point game you could have 3 against 2!

Army lists must be +/- 10 points of the game points (hah, that will make some people think!)  Benefits for capturing a world will be things like +100 points of wargear for your army, +1 vehicle choice (any vehicle as long as it is in your codex), +1 troop choice etc.  These bonuses are in effect until you lose the world that you have captured.

I will post more information at another time but will hope that we have plenty of people taking part.  You can use a maximum of 2 armies in the campaign but only 1 in a battle.  The games will be a randomly generated scenario game as decided by a dice roll (unless a character in your army says otherwise).

Good hunting to you all!

Sorry for not posting for so long but have been busy.  I have been enjoying some more games of warhammer 40k and have been working on my teaching technique with the help of some of the younger members of the club.
It is good to see more members at club, especially younger members.  We now have a group who are running their own game and were looking for somewhere to meet.  This has been brilliant for the club as it has injected not only new blood but also new ideas and games.
If there are people out there who wish to have a place to meet to play their own games, please feel free to come down.  We have space to fit you in or you can even join one of the groups who are currently running.  This also applies to any table top battle gamers out there, not just games workshop but any genre that you may play.  You never know, you might even encourage some of the club members to join you.

I will try to keep this updated from now on but no promises.

Mage agin 10/10/2011

By the way, that is not a spelling mistake, that is Norfolk!

I have done it again! The party is in doo doo land cause I failed to use a little thing called intelligence.  I managed to transport myself, via the mysterious stones in the museum to the Czech Republic.  Prague no less.  As something happened back at the museum, Luke and Sean soon joined me.  Unfortunatelt the rest passed in a drunken haze, so my character is just going with the flow.

Mage 04/10/2011

After missing a session, I find out that not only had I been deposited in Waterstones for 24hrs researching (must be a 24/7 place) but the rest of the party had decided to teleport some weaponry from RAF Lakenheath to there hotel room.  Ok, not too bad but when they were opened, tracking chips in the cases activated.  Hmmmmm.......
For some reason, Glenn had his arm ripped off in their hotel room making it a murder scene and great local news!
We managed to stop the explosion at Bar Red and were again blasted through time to the Monday after.  Finding that none of our magic powers worked, we headed to Castle Rising castle to a Node point (a magic recharge socket where we're the plugs) but again, this weren't as simple as it seemed!
The Node point had a guardian, a knight, which we had to defeat!  I asked my Earth Elemental Mentor how we could manage this and he pointed to a shield and sword on the wall. Hmm, ritual combat it was then.  I managed to defeat the guardian and entered the node point.  Luke decided he would try.  He picked up the shield and presently blasted him with his gun.  The universe obviuosly thought this unfair and booted them all back to reality.
Once I returned, I showed them where the door was supposed to be and Glenn used his skeleton key so the rest of the party could re-charge.
On the way back to King's Lynn, we stopped at St Faiths church to investigate a site of importance.  Here we found a Faith Healer magically interred by Father Anderson.  We recovered a book and are now at Lynn Museum.

What can I say, I am playing in yet another new system and I'm playing...... Myself!  Confused? So were the party until we started playing.  No characters have been built, they are being built as we go along.  This means that every action (which requires a dice roll) adds skills etc as long as you are successful on the roll.  Come and have a look if you want to know more.

We are slowly moving forward in regards to the GCN.  A slight hiccup but this should be sorted soon.

If anyone is interested in playing a Necromunda Campaign please let me know.  You do not need Necromunda models, any models will do as long as you can put sticky dots on them to show which model is which.
